During the last years, Cyanine5 (an analog of Cy5?) has become an incredibly popular label in life science research and diagnostics. The fluorophore has its emission maximum in the red region, where many CCD detectors exhibit maximum sensitivity, and biological objects show low background. The dye color is very intense, therefore quantities as small as 1?nmol can be detected in gel electrophoresis by naked eye.

This Cyanine5 NHS ester (analog to Cy5? NHS ester) is a reactive dye for the labeling of amino-groups in peptides, proteins, and oligonucleotides. This dye requires a small amount of organic co-solvent (such as DMF or DMSO) to be used in labeling reactions (please see our recommended protocol for more details). This reagent is ideal for very cost-efficient labeling of soluble proteins as well as all kinds of peptides and oligonucleotides. This reagent also works well in organic solvents for small molecule labeling. For more sophisticated targets such as easily degradable proteins, when the use of DMF or DMSO is undesirable, consider using water-soluble sulfo-Cyanine 5 NHS ester which does not require any co-solvent, and features very similar fluorescent properties.

There are two varieties of cyanine dyes: non-sulfonated cyanines, and sulfonated cyanines. For many applications they are interchangeable, because their spectral properties are nearly identical. Both sulfonated and non-sulfonated dyes can be used for the labeling of biomolecules such as DNA and proteins. The difference between the dyes is their solubility: sulfo- dyes are water-soluble, and they do not use of organic co-solvent for the labeling in aqueous environment. They are less prone to aggregation in water.

Sulfo-Cyanine7 carboxylic acid is non-reactive water soluble near infrared dye.

The reagent is useful as a fluorescent marker in NIR range when attachment to other molecules is not desired. It has high hydrophilicity and aqueous solubility, improved quantum yield in NIR range, and very high molar extinction coefficient.

This reagent contains free carboxylic acid function. Pre-activated activated ester – sulfo-Cyanine7 NHS ester is also available.

During the last years, Cyanine5 (an analog of Cy5?) has become an incredibly popular label in life science research and diagnostics. The fluorophore has its emission maximum in the red region, where many CCD detectors exhibit maximum sensitivity, and biological objects show low background. The dye color is very intense, therefore quantities as small as 1?nmol can be detected in gel electrophoresis by naked eye.

This Cyanine5 NHS ester (analog to Cy5? NHS ester) is a reactive dye for the labeling of amino-groups in peptides, proteins, and oligonucleotides. This dye requires a small amount of organic co-solvent (such as DMF or DMSO) to be used in labeling reactions (please see our recommended protocol for more details). This reagent is ideal for very cost-efficient labeling of soluble proteins as well as all kinds of peptides and oligonucleotides. This reagent also works well in organic solvents for small molecule labeling. For more sophisticated targets such as easily degradable proteins, when the use of DMF or DMSO is undesirable, consider using water-soluble sulfo-Cyanine 5 NHS ester which does not require any co-solvent, and features very similar fluorescent properties.

Thiol mono-reactive Cyanine3 dye. This reagent can be used to attach Cyanine3 fluorophore (an analog of Cy3?) to proteins and peptides containing cysteine residues, as well as to other thiolated molecules (such as thiol-containing oligonucleotides).

Cystines should be reduced with TCEP (tris-carboxyethylphosphine) or other appropriate reductant prior to the labeling.

Labeling with Cyanine3 maleimide is selective, and efficient.

We recommend using water-soluble Sulfo-Cyanine3 maleimide for the labeling of antibodies and other sensitive proteins.

Most proteins contain sulfhydryl groups which can be selectively labeled with maleimides. With this reagent, these proteins can be converted to near infrared (NIR) fluorescent conjugates. After it, the conjugates can be used in non-invasive live organism imaging to study distribution of the protein in tissues and organs.
